Cornwall ASA County Championships 2012

No doubt inspired by the outstanding performance of Calum Jarvis [19] in the 200 Backstroke at the British Gas Swimming Championships held at the Olympic Aquatic Centre in London earlier this week, Oliver Jarvis [14] of Bodmin Dragons put in his own outstanding performances in the Cornwall ASA County Championships winning the Junior County Championships in the 50 Backstroke and the Junior County Championship in the 100 backstroke, before completing the set by winning the Junior County Championship in the 200 Backstroke on the Sunday 11^th March. 

In the points competition taken over a maximum of 18 events spread across 6 days, Oliver Jarvis was a worthy first for the 14 year old boys, after impressive performances in the Individual Medley and Freestyle events as well as the Backstroke. Whilst Calum Jarvis may yet secure a spot on the British Team for the 2012 London Olympics, Oliver Jarvis’ turn may come in 2016 or 2020. Head Coach, Simon Darbourne, was particularly impressed with Oliver’s winning time of 1:03.52 for the 100 Backstroke in the Junior County Championship.
